Good place for a pint in the beer garden after walking a section of the North Downs Way.

Finish serving food at 5pm on a Sunday which was really inconvenient (and bizarre). Gorgeous location though.

Good food, nice grounds but staff don't really care.

Came on a Sunday with the family on a fairly windy day. Despite the interior of the pub being empty and it being rather early for lunch, we were asked to sit outside by a waiter who didn't really care because we didn't have a reservation. The kids got lunch menus they could draw on and we went outside.

The menu is fairly standard pub fare but the food is delicious. I went for the roast lamb and my wife had the fish and chips which she described as 'the best fish and chips in years'. The lamb was a little dry for my tastes but the gravy and mint sauce really elevated it. The giant yorkshire pudding was filled with gravy and stonkingly tasty. The mint sauce is probably the most delicious mint sauce I've ever had though maybe sharp for some people's tastes. I practically licked the little bowl clean.

The kids' portions are generous but warning: if you go for chips they'll give you a rather hefty adult portion. The chicken goujons and fish goujons are all freshly prepared and the chicken was particularly moist - essentially tempura-battered.

Outside, you're on a river bank with several benches but it's also next to the parking lot which does fill up with (some very expensive) cars during lunch hour. If you try to leave at peak time it's a bit of a nightmare because the car park is full and the entrance/exit only has enough space for one car so the backlog can cause a very interesting situation. I won't deny sweating while trying to manoeuvre around a poorly-parked Maserati .

It's worth a drop-in for the food but book in advance if it's a cold day.

Good music and beautiful pub. Especially on good days it's nice to sit outside. Staff really friendly. Great experience

Food was good, but they had ran out if the sides that came with our meals. Did not inform us of this fact and did not do anything to replace it! Took a while to clear some of the tables. Lovely spot by the river and great ales
